In the modern art room, Pinterest is a place many students go to for idea generation. There are many great ideas there, but there is also a lot of melted crayon art. This lesson takes the idea that so many students love and makes it more sophisticated and purposeful. Students will be challenged to reduce an image to just positive and negative space and to create a tape stencil before adding the melted wax. You can take this lesson a step further by making it a self-portrait lesson or by bringing in some color theory.
